egr or pluged cat?

Hola

My new egr seemed to be acting up so I stuck a spring between the
egr and the sensor. Ran out pretty good. Took off the down tube and removed
the spring and started it with the vacumn tube disconnected and it was sucking
air at Idle. Bench tested the egr valve it it seemed to be good. I rigged up a pressure test from the manifold tube to see if I could read backpressure but that
was negative. Maybe I pull the o2 senser out. Its idling then bogging down then picking up real quick. Seams like a vacumn leak? If 1 of those 3 thermactors
fail would that bog down the air pump. ?

anyone?????

The EGR system and the air injection system are completely separate systems that have nothing to do with one another so you have to distinguish between them.

The EGR vacuum tube was sucking air at idle? If so that is wrong, that line should go directly to a solenoid in front of and under the ignition coil, and there should only be vacuum on the line at rpm and after the engine has reached operating temp.

Thanks for your reply. The evr seemed to be working. I removed the downtube that
goes to the manifold then started it. I put my finger over the bottom of the egr to feel if any air was entering and ther was.I replaced it.I wasnt sure if the cat was clogged
if it could cause the backpressure to force open the egr valve backwards and sneek into the manifold.
