2015 Transit

We ordered a 2015 Van May 3 and were told it would be ready in 4-6 weeks by Texas Motors Ford, Fort Worth. It is now September.

After numerous calls to the salesperson, she finally connected me to the Fleet Manager yesterday, who sadly advised me that there was a problem with a "component" that had to be fixed by Ford before my van could be delivered.

I am trying to get my sister out of a nursing home, and the van was to be converted with a ramp etc and now I don't know if I should continue with the purchase as:

I saw one on a TV show just last week, seen them in the news as ambulances in Europe, and ..

Just last week one pulled up beside me at a traffic light. I freaked. There was my van with the wrap around windows and everything. The light changed and ..

...a Mercedes Emblem was on the back....I wailed...."where's mine?"

What's up at Ford?

This is happening to a lot of people because of the "late availability" of certain items. For instance, if you order a My Touch, you may be waiting a long time. Talk to your dealer about changing your order to remove the "late availability" things.

Good luck. I had to change my order twice to remove certain things.

Late Availability....

Thanks for the reply. I now remember when we were going down the options that there was a comment on some items that they would not be available until mid-late summer.

I will call and find out what or if any late availabilities are the holdup and if I can live without them.

I am assuming that when they do come available that I can get them installed without too much trouble.

thanks again...

Don't assume that things can be added after delivery. Sure, a remote starter can be added, but things like MyTouch can't be added later.

I have seen tons of them here in Ct. All the dealers have them and some have several. In the past 2 weeks I have seen 4 or 5 car haulers with them on it. Hope everything works out for you though.

Just before the Christmas shutdown....I have a VIN, I have a window sticker...

awaiting delivery.....

Over the Holidays, Texas Motors Ford became David McDavid Ford and there is only ONE employee from the old dealership....everyone else is new....

At first, they couldn't even find I had a van as with the new dealership came new computers.....in her words..."I'm slammed.."

Through another site, found out that my van was at Forney Rd Distribution center outside of Dallas awaiting a convoy...that was Jan 2.

..I'm still waiting

Medicaid has sent two "gentle" reminders that all paperwork and receipts are due Jan 15 for the spend down....

Advanced Mobility is calling ready to do the lift conversion....

Everything seems to be in place and ready....except for the stunning lack of a physical van...

..flashbacking to doctors voice..labor pains...emergency....boom...it's a boy....oh wait...wow, that was like catching a football ...it's another boy....

I think I fainted...

Did anyone notice that Mike from the TV show American Pickers got a new Transit (not a Transit Connect)...before it was introduced?

The Transit Connect is an entirely different vehicle based off the "new" Escape which is very similar the Kuga, sold in Europe since 2008.

There was also a show this summer (the title completely eludes me at this moment)...re: alien life force taking over bodies, making them zombies.....

but they were driving a beautiful black HR Transit....and in one of the scenes were being attacked and shooting it up and wrecked it....

..I was like....NOooooo....I haven't even got mine yet and they are already destroying one before my very eyes.....so cruel...

Is the van being converted by Ford or did it have to go to an aftermarket upfitter?

[QUOTE=tseekins;14981953]Is the van being converted by Ford or did it have to go to an aftermarket upfitter?[/QUOTE

A commercial lift will be installed by Advanced Mobility, here in Fort Worth.

There have been so many ...changes....I'm not even sure of what I'm getting anymore.

I paid cash, total, in May as at the time I thought I only had a 30 day spend down. Afterwards I found out that I actually had 90 days. ..

When I pull up the window sticker, it shows Front AC ....I ordered front and rear....

It also shows the MyFord Touch with CD etc.....but from others, I am hearing that they are not getting the CD feature.....which at $2,000..I'm expecting to have....some are not even getting the MFT...

But my window sticker shows it, and the price.

Billed to dealer 12/2/2014
Build date 12/9/2014

...and yet, I still have no van.

Advanced Mobility assures me it won't take long as I got the MR so they shouldn't have to do any cutting....a commercial lift is just installed....either on the side or the rear....

..and yes, I am a complete novice on wheelchair conversions so I am steeling myself for any future surprises...

I only have 5 days so I am probably going to have to prepay for the lift to get the money out of the account....which...is not my first choice, but I am in a bind here.

I have a van....but
..don't get too excited.

After waiting 8 months for a PAID in FULL Transit and failure of ETA's 12/29, 1/5, 1/6-8 I got up at 6am on Tuesday am and camped in the lobby until the new service manager got to work.

His name is Brian, and he must have had an invisible shield protecting him from the blast coming from my direction.

He stated that he oddly did have my order on his desk at this moment and that he was going to call me and advise that there was a hold on the van due to the color: they did not have Pueblo Gold. ....

..would I like to pick another color?

me: you mean I have a VIN and a window sticker with a build date from Dec 9 and that it in actuality has NOT been built waiting for a color change?

him: uhm, yes. We have 4 colors to choose from which do you want?

me: It's not going to be delivered in a week.. is it?
him: no
me: in two weeks?
him: not even close

**crickets and glaring***

****more crickets****

him.....uhm, could we interest you in a swap from what we do have in inventory?

me: show me

So ......

http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FBAX2CM0FKA29333

this i my Transit 350....it's a bus, seats 15, and was $4,000 over my original order, but they did an even swap.

It's not the color I wanted, not the length, and no MFT. They hemhawed that soon CD's would be obsolete anyway....

Can anyone tell me what the two switches at the bottom of the console with a psitive and a negative are....can't find them in the manual.....

The manual is very hard to read as it covers ALL options that COULD be on a Transit.....but not necessarily on yours so you have to figure out which sections pertain to you....

The Spend down paperwork has been turned...Advanced Mobility has ordered the commercial lift, should be here in a week and @3 days to install.

All crisis and drama have resolved

Pictures in the picture thread.

Does your van have a tow package? The switches may be for a trailer brake controller.

So what did they do, sell your original van to someone else? You had a window sticker with a build date. I would be more than frustrated and would have canceled my order and went with another brand.
