Cab Wiring Basics

Might as well put it back right...

I have a decent knowledge of wiring and what is factory and what is not. I figure while I have the dash out, I may as well verify my work. If anyone has the general cab portion of the wiring diagram, I'd appreciate it. Also, hoping for parts help here, The trigger for my glove box light went flying into outer space or another dimension during disassembly. Does anyone know the part number so I can locate a replacement?

You didn't say what you're working on, but a lot of stuff is available here: 1973-1979 Ford Truck Wiring Diagrams & Schematics - FORDification.net

Probably ended up in another dimension. That's where most of my stuff goes.
The light was only available as an assembly, individual parts aren't available.
Depending on the year of your truck:
Switch and wire assy., glove compartment lamp
73-76 D1OZ-14413-A
77-up D6FZ-14413-A

There are quite a few still around. Once source:
Green Sales, Cincinnati, OH has 3 of the D1OZ and 4 of the D6FZ.
(800) 543-4959

If you want more sources let me know.

I'd guess 73 to early 77 by the sig pic and that big steering wheel center?

And thanks to mikeo0o0o0 and Number Dummy for the diagrams.

Yes one is for a 78, but is should get you going in the right direction.

If you need rocket scientist/electrical engineer (no kidding)/super electrical genius level assistance, fmc400 is always available.

As I fully anticipated...

You guys came through. thanks to all of you. and for the record, you nailed the year. Early 77, Feb to be exact. Production code starts with an "X". There was no real problem to list, I just wanted schematics to verify that I have my wiring correct prior to final reassembly. Thanks again guys.

Word of caution. The color codes on the provided drawings may or may not match your vehicle. Just ran into this problem with my 74 F100. Just use a little common sense and all should go well.

Ah... sometimes wish for the times of simple wiring schematics in trucks and cars.

But then we can't have our dvd headrests and gps sat nav blueballtooth to complicate our lives without complexity!

Here is about how far the dash comes out..I think. And then there is always the OEM a/c parts and pieces in the first pic.

The second pic is an aftermarket a/c set up, I posted the pic to show you the dash out from the passenger side.

This is how far you can strip a dash.

Thanks Rich, those were from when I sandblasted the cab in my front yard. I had to keep an eye on the neighborhood cats though .
