lowboy springs in a highboy?

Ah yes, as far as I can figure out your question.
1. Will 77.5 to 79 lowboy (2 leaf) leaf springs fit a 73-77.4 "highboy" truck, yes as far as I know. But on the front end only, cause the rear leaf springs themselves are a different width.
HB rear are 2 1/4" wide versus lowboy are 3" wide.
2. Could you order the lowboy leaf springs that are for a 2" lift and get the same lift as a set of stock 6pk (6 leaf count) high boy leaf springs?
To answer your second question, "Sounds like a good idea to me". My 78 had a set off a HB when I got it and 35" tires. But the springs were shot, so the PO put 3" blocks on the front. After hitting the oil pan (see the dent in the pic?) with the front bumpkin. FAIL
Usually the HB leaf springs are worn out and when put on a 78/79 it works, but its not all that. So unless you are tying to stay cheap, or you have already have a set of HB leaf springs already and are just curious, I'd just get new ones and than all that hard work to swap them will not be in vain.
This pic is embarrassing to post, but it is reality showing what some PO's do to their trucks. It now has a 4" Rough Country set on the front and NO more blocks. And yes I trimmed my u bolts excess off.

Blocks have proven to be not a very good idea that being said if your budget won't allow anything different and you already have the rear springs and no way to return them then a shackle flip is your only choice in the back .. If you can return or sell the rear springs there are still some budget oriented solutions available to you but require some work .. Like using super duty springs but you will need different spring perches in the rear and the current rear spring perches will be moved to the front of the rear spring .. What's your budget look like for the job ?

Ever look into getting a "add-a leaf"? They sell them for the front and rear of pretty much any truck. JC Whitney, Summit, Jegs. Most of the big lift kit companies too, like Rancho.
I hear folks say that the add-a leaf is not the best deal ride wise, but you can get a 1 1/2 to 2" worth of lift and then maybe a 3" body lift? I personally do not like a body lift, but that's just my opinion and there are a lot of them out there about it.
A add-a leaf is easier than grinding rivets and doing the shackle flip IMO.
I'm pretty sure you can get a 3" front leaf spring lift and then maybe do a add-a leaf in the rear?
Like redroad said, there are a few routes that can be taken.

When I first got the ol silver truck I was off doing a little 4 wheeling and noticed that the front tires got a little close to the front fender when I was crossed up in a ditch so....
I got some add-a leafs (80.00) from JC Whitney (Skyjacker?) and put them on the front of my all stock silver 77.5 F250.
I had 33's and wanted just a bit more clearance on the front top fender edge. It raised it like 2" and it still rides like a 77 F250, but I did not notice any worse of a ride, but definitively more clearance.
I have not really off roaded or flexed it out 4 wheeling had since then, but it does not ride like a new set of 6" lift kit springs, by no means.
In the pic it even looks a little higher in the front...hmmm.
