ford 6.0 fuel pump

Hey guys, got a 2006 ford 6.0 f350. I am experiencing a lack of power and have narrowed it down to a few things. Right now I'm focusing on the fuel pump. Not the HPOP, but the actual conditioning unit. I turned it OFF with AE and did not notice a difference at all. I know that the injectors pull fuel when it's off but shouldn't I notice SOMETHING?? Or is this normal? Anybody know?

Thanks guys,

John

Try removing the upper fuel filter cap amd filter on yen engine and have someone turn the key to on. You will watch the upper bowl fill with fuel. It should fill pretty fast. That's why you need someone in the cab to turn it off right away. When you fill it and or replace the upper filter, the procedure is to turn the key to on amid wait for pump to stop, three times before starting it. This is how you remove the air amd ensure injectors are protected from air. Have you done the blue spring in the upper bowl, amd can you measure fuel pressure at idle and WOT?

Why do you think the injectors will pull fuel without the HFCM operating? They won't, they'll just fail. The only way to test a fuel supply issue is with a fuel pressure gauge and tester.

Ron the diesel tech said that they will pull fuel even if the pump fails. I turned the pump off with Auto Enginuity and it still ran perfect.

I did all of that and yes, I did the blue spring upgrade. I ordered the fuel pressure gauge from harbor freight for $20. So I will measure pressure when it gets here.

I did that when I first finished my egr/oil cooler job and couldn't get it started. I don't remember what I saw. But it started shortly after. I am going to take your advice and do it again and see what I see.
