all that is left left motor, tranny, frame, powertrain and front end.

The problem is there are many appraisals, all different.
Dealers selling vehicles have one while a purchasing dealer uses another.
The bank financing the loan has one.
Your insurer has one when you purchase coverage and a second one when paying any claims.
Then you can throw in private sales and the numerous sites that make estimates (NADA, KBB, Edmunds) regarding buying/selling.
Plus you've got the auction sites (both dealers only and public) and their pricing schemes.
The true price in each case is what both parties agree to (which can - and often do - vary greatly).

a fire in the bed hot enough to damage the interior would put a question in my mind on any of the parts in your list.
truck is a loss. you might make out better taking a casuaty loss on your taxes and donating the truck to iron lung or what have you which would also provide some tax releif.
I recently had a harley lost due to flood and made out better taking a cusuaty loss on taxes and scraping the bike than if I were to try to part out the salvagable parts.
