1947 Flatbed $2500.00

1947 Ford F-350 | ksl.com

Browsing the KSL Classifieds again. This looks like a steal, but I already have two projects to get to.

Interesting data. I thought the F series started in '48 and the F4 became the F-350 in '53.

So what would this truck have been called in 1947?

If memory serves me right, that was probably called, considered a ton and a half truck with a GVWR of somewhere areound 12000 lbs. Looks like a nine foot script bed. Interesting what the seller says about the transmission set up. My SWAg is a four speed and OD transmission, Brownie or other.

I bet the transmission is a regular four speed crashbox. He says three speed with compound first gear. I have heard people refer to the really low first gear as "granny gear", "compound low", or other names. I'm pretty sure he means 3 + 1 = 4.

I would love to have it if GBSisson would fix up the flatbed like his.

Looking at the inside pic. There seems to be three levers coming out of the floor. A gear shift, maybe a two speed differential and another. Could it be an emergency brake lever? Or am I seeing it wrong?

I see what I believe to be the stock four speed transmission shift lever, an auxiliary transmission shift lever and the brake lever.

The link doesn't work for me, so I don't see what I'm supposed to be building. I really love the script stakebeds though. Can someone post the pics without the link?

It looks like they took the ad down. It looked a lot like yours.

Here is the one of mine on Blue. They're really pretty simple to refurbish.

Blue is a great looking truck Ray. And I wish I had that bed (wink, wink, nod, nod).
