Yeah I don't think any vehicle could look bad on Mount Hood in the winter. Funny part is that I got stuck for a few hours trying to get off of that road.

 

The reason I asked, usually the timing won't advance enough when installed that way. Yeah, that's a neat place. When was the last time Hood corked off, anyway? I think we could see it from Yakima on a clear day iirc.

Are you thinking of Mount Saint Helens? I think the last major eruption was in 1980, but according to Wikipedia there were a few minor eruptions as recently as 2008: Mount St. Helens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beautiful looking truck. I noticed what appears to be the coil mounted to the firewall and upside down. I've seen that done before, don't know why they do it, and I worry about the chance of the wire falling out when on rough roads.. My truck spends a lot of off hiway time on dirt mountain/desert roads..

 

Funny you mention that. I have NEVER had a coil wire fall out in all my years, with one exception. We bought a Ford Tempo that actually had clamps on the coil wire to hold them in, which I thought was amusing. One day we were in the snow & I was backing out of a parking lot & it started hopping, then stalled. When I opened the hood, I was stunned to see that the coil wire came out!

 

It only happened to me once but we were in a friends ****** when we were off road. I asked why he mounted it that way but he didn't have a good answer and later turned it 90 degrees. I had a 54 Chevy at one time and it was mounted upside down, don't know if that was factory but I turned it around..

 

Haha yeah that wasn't my doing, and I can't think of any reason to mount it like that (looks a little cleaner, maybe?). It's never been an issue, but I might flip it around next time I'm under there.

 

For anyone interested in doing a dual exhaust like this, I believe I do need an H-pipe. It's fine around town, but decelerating on the highway leads to a lot of deep "pops" and grunts, which is what I was warned about.

I still don't have tail pipes on it, so I'll wait and see if those make a difference (can't imagine they will), but it looks like I have more work to do!

 

I'm running straight glass-packs on mine with no crossover... No pops & sounds EXCELLENT!!

 

Very cool. I'm guessing it's on a case-by-case basis. The paperwork that came with the Flowmasters had an FAQ section and one of them was "Will I need an H or X pipe?" and the answer was something like "it's recommended to prevent popping"

 

It also does add power in most cases, as it combines the airflow to create a slight vacuum.

In my case, more power was the last thing I needed.
