It was both. Have a new one made at one place and it shook bad they fixed it twice still no good. Went to the other one in town to have it checked and fixed still bad. That is when I contacted Driveline Specialists in Texas. I sent my new driveline to them to check it and they said it was all bad. They made me a new one and guaranteed it would work or refund me my money. Was the best money spent. They were great.

Thank you for sharing something that justifies my suspicions. When you're "on shaky ground" with a vendor, it's reassuring to know the situation is not isolated.

I think I'll skip over that part of paying to ship a heavy driveline to a land far, far away for repair.

You don't ship them your shaft, they build you one and ship it to you. They quoted me $630 to my door a few years ago for a one piece.

Point 2: Did I read earlier that heat was applied and a repair was made? When my Jenni was new she had a big bright caution sicker on the read drive like reading "this is a non service part, replace if damaged" or something to that effect. If yours has been repaired I would scrap it. I do t know the science behind fords determination that it is nonrepairable but on this I think I will take their word.

Point 3: did you use grease-able unjoints when everything was replaced? I have heard from reputable sources that aftermarket unjoints with zerk fittings have slowly but surely suffered in quality and tolerances since the OEMs were forbidden to use them by the EPA. In short no one is watching so they are cutting costs. I don't like the idea of not being able to grease a ujoint but the ones under my but right now have over 425k on them and are still smooth as silk so they can't be that bad.

I was playfully responding to this:

This one has been bothering me since I saw it done. I approached the vendor about a new driveline, but he thought I was wasting my money. I gave him a shot at making it right, but his turn is up.

It's all OEM quality parts under there - no Zirks, I just question the quality of the labor.

Short bed? If it is that explains it. Long wheel base trucks have carriers short wheel bases don't. For instance a standard cab long bed doesn't have one, a cc long or short bed does.
I wasn't sure if you are saying excursion or extended cab
