I am hoping that the Ford parts specialist and member of this forum known as “Bill / Retired Ford Parts Manager / Part number research” or someone equally qualified might respond to this thread. I am in the process of replacing the broken shifter bowl on this 1972 Ford F250, auto. trans. with power steering. Having it all apart now, I see that there are broken plastic pieces on the turn signal switch underneath the steering wheel. That would explain why turning the steering wheel does not cancel the turn signal. I would like to find out the part number so I can check online for the part and replace if it is not too expensive. Now that I have it apart would be a good time.
In response to numerous inquiries on this forum about the steering columns of this vintage, Bill has provided a copy of a page from a Ford truck manual showing an exploded view of these parts by their part numbers. The page is identified as follows:
- Ford Truck Parts
- Illustration Section 35
- Steering column, gear and wheel
- - 1965 – 72 F100 (4x2), 1967/F350
- - 8
- - P 4923
Here are my questions:
- 1. Is there a corresponding page that gives the names for each of the parts presented in the illustration? This will help me locate the part.
- 2. The item identified on the sheet as “part of 13341” might be the part I want, or it might be right next to it. However, I do not see a part 13341 on this sheet. I saw elsewhere a manual page for Ford passenger cars that has a part number 13341.
- 3. I do not see on the truck page the type of horn that I have on mine, which is described as a “Horn bar black finish”. However, I believe that I have the correct part number for that – D3TZ-13A805-AR. I will also attempt to locate that part. Why is this part not shown on the diagram?
- 4. What is the part number for the turn signal indicator?

Hey Jerry, did that part do it for you? I have the same issue. Shuts off for right turns but not left. I was hoping it was simpler than re-wiring the entire column. Thanks
