Huh? Nothing from a ranger will work on our truck unless it is pre-83 ranger

That's what the guy at the scrapyard said. It's been a while, so maybe it was a bronco or interchange F series. Either way, it sealed and it fit. All I really cared about to get my truck inspected at the time.

Nope. Bronco is different again. 73-97 full-size TRUCK will interchange but only with the correct gasket

Yeah, I do want to recover it, but will likely be putting all the interior aesthetics work off till next year. Did you rip the old clothe off the headliner or just go over it with new? And what'd you use?

Rip the old off and then take a wire wheel on a cordless drill to get the old foam off be careful not to damage the board especially around the visors.

I sent mine out for the labor part, but no joke, I got the fabric to cover mine in the local JoAnn Fabrics store. They have it - and I think it's actually called "headliner material". It's a cloth backed by a thin layer of foam.

While I don't know exactly what the shop that recovered mine did, I would say Kevin's pretty on-target. A wheel with light pressure so you don't damage the board will get it done. A spray adhesive product (Permatex makes one that's for headliner, allegedly) to put the new on.

Make sure you use the heavy duty headliner glue.normal trim adhesive will not hold. Don't ask how I know.
Kevin is spot on.it really is an easy diy project.and Jo Ann is the only place here to get it unless you get it online.

If you used an insulation/noise reduction applicaiton(the silver/aluminum foam stuff from summit) as a pre-layer, would you have to just do a custom headliner/carpet?

I put Dynamat on the roof of my half-ton, and put the factory headliner board back in over top of it. The way the board fits in with the ribs in the cab metal for stiffness, the two don't conflict and it went right back into place nicely.

Yup just like that.

What a difference putting the Dynamat in my half ton was. Stereo sounds much better, and the big-bore exhaust I run is almost non-existent in the cab. I think I want to do some in the OBS at some point too.

I couldn't even hear my cellphone ring last night when I went to pick up the bed for the half-ton...lol. Part of it is I'm a bit stuffed up and my hearing's off but the OBS diesel is definitely loud in the cab.

Even my Expedition could use it. It has shorty headers and a 3" full exhaust with a Cherry Bomb muffler on it...it's throaty lol.

My wife would complain all the time and wear shooting range ear muffs, PLUS EARPLUGS! I spent a couple weeks tearing everything out so I could put soundproofing on it. Including the dash, it came out to soundproof behind that!

It's just me, so I would probably do as little as needed just to quiet things down a bit. Headliner's gotta be redone, so I'll get under there, the doors (when I put the new speakers in and stuff - blew two out), and a few other places.
