Cel and a loss of some power while driving at highway speeds
Hi all...new to the forum and to the diesel scene. Bought a 96 f350 crew cab 7.3 a cpl months ago and have been having a problem with the cel coming on and a loss of power while driving at highway speeds. However if u stop turn the truck off then fire it back up..light is off and it runs fine againg til the light comes back on. I first thought it was a cps issue..but after 3 different ones have pretty much ruled that out. Has any of you encountered such a problem and if so what was it?

What I would suggest is that you either set yourself up with something to read codes, or take it to a shop and pay them a few bucks to pull the codes.
Me, I took the first route and got Torque Pro for my tablet and bought an inexpensive bluetooth OBDII adapter. Works like a champ if you're comfortable with technology (and cost me less than $40 total). Another route many have chosen is to add an Aeromotive Scangauge II to the truck. It plugs into the OBDII port and will pull codes, run some tests, and display live data. Another very good option which runs around $150-200.

having the same problem
I'm Having the same problem with my 95 F350 7.3 with 300,000 miles but with no codes or lights, it came on quickly and is intermittent. I have good fuel flow, air filter is clean and can find no other problems. any ideas?

Your problem is more than likely different than the original posters because your not getting a cel, or your cel is burnt out. I would recommend starting a new thread for this reason. But to get you started check the fuel pressure and fuel filter for condition. pressure will be a tough one because you will want to know what it is when you have this issue. ie. highway speeds
