Rear Glass Purchaser

Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase a rear window for my 53 F100? LMC sent me the small window and doesn't sell the style I need. MMy truck needs the large flat window. I believe its 52" long or close to that. My local shops are of no help either.

I bought a rear window from LMC for my 55. It was about 1/2 inch too small all the way around.
Good Luck

Why buy glass from a repop seller and pay shipping charges when it's available from any auto glass shop. Since the back glass is flat, it can be "cut-to-fit" from glass stock.

Excepting panel trucks & P Series Parcel Delivery, the back glass is the same for all 1953/55's and 1956's without wrap around window.

Unless someone did a big window conversion or otherwise modified it, there was only one size rear glass on the 53 F100 standard from the factory. Remember the rubber seal takes up some room and the rear glass is installed from the inside to the outside.

Mine was "custom cut" as it still had a lot of rough edges. It went back in(shrug), so it'll stay in as long as it lasts.

I'll tell you exactly why I will never bother with a local glass cutter with my truck again. I tried a local cutter. He charged me much more than what LMC charges, including shipping. I called around to a few other ones. All of their estimates were the same as the original guy. Plus, when you factor in the time, gas, and aggravation of dealing with the public, it's much cheaper to just order it and have it sitting on your front porch in about 2 or 3 days packed nicely in a foam-filled box.

I have a loose window sitting here, it measures 50 inches across at it's widest point. The corresponding cab opening measures 49-1/2 inches.

Gunny,
I don't know where you are located in SoCal but if you are close to the Ontario/Pomona area there is a glass warehouse there that should have your glass and be able to sell it to you as a will-call. Shipping on glass is $$$.

I bought glass from Bob's Classic Auto Glass out of Eurgene OR but picked it up at the warehouse in Ontario. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of the wholesaler...he is the one who supplies all the glass to the Overhaulin' show. I looked at Bob's site and did not see just the rear glass listed, you may give him a call and see what he has. Another option is to contact a local shop, I am in El Cajon and there are a few around here as well. If you need a template I can send you one.

OK, I'll do some homework. From who I could contact local to cut it was $150 and that's with me providing the measurements and me installing it. Crazy

Sorry but I still don't understand were you are getting a "big" window or "small" window from? 53-55 F100s all had the same size rear glass. Can you explain?

It sounds like LMC's screw-up and they sent him the wrong glass. Don't get worked up over it, Charlie has him covered.
