Extended Warranties

Extended Warranties
Who bought one?
How much, for how long, for what coverage?
What major repairs has anyone needed with this generation truck to make it smart to buy one?
Consumer Reports says they are not a deal, and ones I have bought for other trucks, I haven't got the cost out of them, but.....
With all the new stuff, and price of stuff,....
But also don't see a lot of problems listed for this generation truck. Some a/c stuff and that's about it.
Thanks in advance

I was waiting for other responses before offering my opinion. Anyway, it's my opinion that only a few truck owners actually make the warranty pay for itself with a premature capital failure such as a trans or an engine. Little things are liable to fail at anytime such as a sensor, COP or other fairly common item.
It's further my opinion that if a person historically trades every 4-6 years at 100K miles or less, then don't waste the money at all.
Lastly, the cost of a warranty or a Ford ESP is totally negotiable and an agreed upon price should be met before signing anything or swiping your CC.

I knew the price was negotiable but was wondering what range was being paid. Maybe too personal a question, as someone had to pay more and would feel silly posting it.
What if I asked you to post cost if you got a great deal.. Like offered "dealer cost" then what did you pay?
Also believe they wouldn't sell them if they didn't make money, but not wanting to debate should/ shouldn't buy one. More asking what parts are known to fail on the F150 for this generation, to weigh the benefit. Especially 4x4 with 5.0 motor.
Been in 2 superduty's with v-10 for 15 years, knowing the sparkplug problem, I wish I had bought the extended warranty. But realistically one happened way after 7 years so would not matter.

In 2011 my wife bought a new car. We looked at 3 manufacturers all of them started pricing the extended coverage at $1,195. She ended up buying a Cadillac SRX. When we wouldn't buy the "Major Guard Protection plan" at full price, they quickly lowered the price to $1045. We still didn't want it so the lower it to $999. We passed, then they tried to sell us a lesser plan at which point we almost left the dealership so the gave up. Hope that helps.

You're trying to get info on what parts seem to fail with this generation of trucks.
You might be better off doing your research at dealerships.
I talk with mine every time I get my oil changed there, and they contend they
see few problems with the 2011+ trucks, and no trends.
My experience is that more modern vehicles, if they've done well thru the
warranty period have a real good chance of getting thru 100,000 miles with little
problem.
After that, things start to leak or quit, as well as the extended warranty.
I think your question regarding failure problems is well intended, but
too general right now.

I bought extended, I feel like I probably over paid
The truck has a jumpy idle so i asked the dealer to take a look, they said I will be charged hourly if they dont find anything wrong. So my service advisor kind of hinted to me as to let/hope the idle throws a CEL and something goes so then they can go in and fix it on Fords buck...I myself understand that they dont want people coming in for every little apparent issue and wasting fords time but at the same time I am not very happy about it and wished the finance manager warned me about this kind of stuff before hand
But, they have done warranty work to it. When I got my first oil change apparently the rear dif was leaking at the yolk so that was replaced....I didnt even notice it leaking which I though was weird.
They also, replaced the steering wheel controls as my volume button was acting as a seek button....that was an intermittent issue so it was in twice before they actually could replicate it
So in short I wouldn't get ESP if I were to do it again, unless I bought an ecoboost
