My First AOD

Started to make a little progress with the AOD rebuild. I was tired of the truck being down so a found a used AOD that was in good shape and put it in. The truck is now up and running so I have plenty of time to spend on the rebuild. When I started to take the AOD apart the pan was full of band material and the oil was discolored. It was easy to determine that things were getting to hot. To remedy some of the heat I installed a B&M transmission cooler, in series and after the cooler in the Superior radiator.
We have the old transmission apart, the overdrive band was toast but no other apparent failures. I was suprised how easy it was to get the transmission apart, no special tools required except some snap ring pliers and a small slide hammer to pull the pump. Some pictures to follow this afternoon.

I don't think so, TV pressures were right on the money. I believe the problem was a high stall converter which builds lot of heat and not enough cooler.
