you can make all the polls you want, but it will never ever happen again.
with a manual trans, the computer can not control emissions enough to pass the newer EPA regulations.
that is the reason manual trans was dropped in the first place.
even large trucks are converting over to automatic trans, because of the fuel savings.
with large trucks, the manual trans is now the option with the automatic being the standard trans.

F-150 manual transmissions
My first F-150 was a 1985 powered by a 302 EFI with a 4 speed and creeper gear. That thing could get ANYTHING moving if I had traction.
I'd like to order a new F-550 with a V-10 and the 6 speed ZF, same as what was offered about 10 years ago. But since that will never happen again, I'd like to see the automatic equipped with a better 'paddle style' shifter, the little tab on the column lever doesn't really cut it.

Like Tom said, it's a dead issue no matter how much we discuss it. My 2011 Ecoboost with the 3.31 axles achieved 25 MPG's on a trip a couple weeks ago. A manual trans would never increase that amazing level of fuel economy and in fact, I'd lose significant towing capability.
So what's the point?

Personally, I want an auto in a small truck. After a day of banging around in an 18 speed, it sure feels good.
But, why not a choice? I don't agree with the idea a manual trans makes you a "better" driver, but if that's what a wannabe trucker thinks, more power to them.
But yeah, don't think that a manual will be offered anyway due to fleet mileage and emmisions concerns from the *****. I guess it's just changing times, nothing any of us are going to do about it.
I have driven some big trucks with the auto shifter thing, I hated them. In those cases, you do lose control somewhat. I can attest to the fact, that hitting a dock, gets a whole new meaning. BTW, the ones I drove, were actually manual 10 speeds, with an "auto" shift thingy.

it's a moot point as has been mentioned as the manual trans is dead , and who the hades wants to pay 43,000 plus for a dain vehicle ( the price i seen on an extended cab pos v-6 eco turd powered f150 on the local dealers lot !! ) ??????? i keep looking at new rides as a beater whilst my never ending rebuild of my 53 effie keeps dragging on , but every time i look at the sticker price , and some of the hideous styling nowadays , i change my mind . so i geuss i'll br perusing the used truck and car markets when i convince myself to buy another vehicle so i can get a manual transmission in it .
