F150 XLS Stripe Kit? NOS? Part number

Hey Guys,

I'm going to see about having Phoenix Graphics reproduce the '82-83 F150 XLS Stepside stripe kits, but I need to find an NOS example (even if it's just 1 side) and a rear kit (tailgate FORD letters and both "bars").

I don't have access to a parts catalog, unfortunately, but I need to pull the numbers and see if I can source one from one of the NOS parts warehouses.

Is there anyone who I could contact? I've contacted "green parts sales" (I think I got the name correct) before to have them research, but never heard back. I figure I need to do it myself.

Picture for reference:

Best,
Chris

HA. Good luck. Find one, and brake out a tape measure. Then go to any vinyl sign guy and have them make them for about 1/3 the cost

Wow Gary, that's fantastic! Thanks for sending. Now I just need to figure out which one is which, I had no idea there were so many options! I'll get ahold of some of the NOS sticker companies and find out how I can source one.

Diesel Brad - I was going to have it made for myself here in Texas, but I figured that would be a shame to do and not have it be available for other people restoring these trucks. I'll spend a little extra to have the Phoenix Graphics guys do it and pay-it-forward for others who need them.

Welcome. And there are paint chip samples in the stickies so you might be able to determine what is meant by some of the colors.

I like the pay-it-forward idea so rep'd you.

Bill - Thanks! That should help him quite a bit and I should have thought of it. But, where does the "D" color go? I found the page you copied in the catalog, but don't know where to look for "D".

I noticed that D discrepancy too, but dunno the answer.

inre to your Okie-Dokey GTG and swap meet: If y'all wanta take a road trip to a Ford dealer that closed in the 1970's that still has ALL the parts, signs and promotional models, whiz down to Matador TX

I wish we could "whiz" that far, but you know Mr. Clean. He won't be in any hurry to go anywhere after driving here. And, we'll have David/1986f150six's truck apart documenting why he gets such good MPG, and I doubt he wants us to leave it spread all over the bench.

But, do you know if they are selling anything from that dealership?

I doubt it. I stopped there on the way to the Pate swap meet in 1985, peered thru the dusty windows. A guy drives up in a new Lincoln, he's the owner of the town, the dealership and Matador Ranch.

He opened the door, I went in and looked around...showcases and parts bins full of goodies...none of which he would sell.

If you Google Earth the building, it looks like it did in 1985.

You can pay it forward. Just use your local shop and post up the shops name when they do it. Vinyl guys have everything in a computer and duplicate stickers at the tap of a couple keys

Bill - Sounds like the guy doesn't need the money, so isn't interested in selling anything.

Thanks guys, I'll spend the week calling the NOS parts companies to see what I can get.

Diesel, I could do that, but unfortunately it would be lost in the forums and all of the people who aren't on here might never find it. If I spend the money to do Graphics Express, people who don't use the forums may get them. I've been fortunate to have been helped many times in this hobby, so doing it the expensive way this one time will help a lot of people in the long run. And I'm tired of seeing nice XLS trucks with no stripes on them

I'll keep everyone posted here. If anyone is watching that has access to Ford parts databases where they can search what dealerships have left - I'd love some help on that side. Right now, calling Greene parts is the only way I know to go.

NumberDummy can do that. But, you can google the part # and RearCounter will tell you what dealerships have it and give you a link with which you can email them.
