2001 Expedition 5.4 4wd gone wonky
Proud owner of an '01 expedition here, its got the 5.4 with 4wd. About two weeks ago the transmission OD light started blinking on the gearshift on the column, took it to the tranny shop and he said it could be the torque converter , On the way home from the shop, the dash started FREAKING OUT, the 4wd light was blinking, the speedo went dead, (the tach stayed good though) and the odometer went black. The shifting also went really bad at the same time. I was wondering if this could be the vehicle speed sensor. I've heard there isn't one on my model, but twilightzone (autozone) sells one. any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys (and gals)

The GEM module may be wet, Ford has a TSB on this, happened to my wife's 2001 exped. The black paint around the windshield peels and lets water in when it rains, the water runs down the a pillar and on top of the gem module. you need to get the windshield resealed, than remove the GEM module and make sure its saveable. take the bolt out of the center of the wiring harness and it comes out through the inside firewall. make sure theres no green in there its fresh water so once it dries out it should be fine. I finally found the problem after a bad rain storm my wife complained her left foot got some water drops on it, than I went looking and there it was. can you narrow it down, did it do it after rain or a car wash?
