And so it begins - slowly. Lots of photo cataloging and labeling going on. I think it will be apart for awhile...

All the emblems, grille, front headlight harness off, tagged and bagged.

A little heat on that front bumper and she'll be good as new. Mine looked almost identical. This is just a coat of DP primer so far.

I am totally digging the air-horns in the grille!! Awesome! Thanks on the bumper idea but she'll be chrome when it goes back together. Is your grille polished? Looks nice!

At one time I had to go out with a magnet and check it to make sure it wasn't chromed steel. It does look pretty good. If you look close you'll be able to see the faded black trim paint around the headlight doors and the top and bottom vertical strips. It's just good old anodized aluminum. Original as far as I can tell. I don't think the front clip has ever been off of this truck.

Wow! Very nice. No advance for me today, rained a lot and had to tinker with the Harley...also purchased a beautiful chrome rear bumper for a flare side. Its not "correct" but its a tow number, chrome diamond plate. Wont fit mine but if anyone wants a really nice step / tow bumper for their flare side this is the unit. PM me for more detail / photo.

A little more work today but the damn lawn had to be mowed and all that other stuff...but on a good note, I haven't broken any bolts (yet) AND I scored a mint condition hood today PLUS a fairly decent chrome bumper for the front. Not that either of them will be on the truck for sometime but ya gotta grab the goods when ya can! So natch the rad support is looking shabby. Not sure if anyone re-pros for the 64 4X4. Seen them for 65/66 2WD so if anyone has any knowledge, appreciate it.

Surprised you didn't need to cut or snap any bolts yet usually the fender and grille bolts fight you till the end. Atleast they do on the east coast trucks.

I got this one out of New Mexico. Built in San Jose, CA, spent its life in Coloarado and New Mexico. Frame is mint except for a few silly things the PO did to it. She'll need the usual, forward cab mounts and floor pans, door sill plates beneath the lower hinges, maybe rear lower corners not sure yet. Im still please with the purchase because overall its a survivor, just tired and in need of a freshen up. Like its owner...lol

The repo 61 to 64 core support is what you need.

Yabba dabba doo, more progress today. I feel like Robert Duvall in Days of Thunder when the mechanic says, "Hey look, theres a piece we don't have to fix" and Robert Duvall kicks a dent in the car...classic... Well she's still not to bad for 50 years old to me, so it is what it is. By next week hope to have the cab gutted, maybe motor / trans / txfr case out. We'll see....

Fantastic. It tows much better now than it did with the NP435. Now I just need to get some different mufflers - but that costs money and doesn't add any performance.

I am amazed at the rust that you guys have to deal with. I don't think I have even seen a slick in the junk yard that is that rusty - and I know that yours isn't bad for that part of the country.

I grew up working with rusty rotted cars and trucks so Im used to it. Exhaust systems lasted 2 years, studs on exhaust manifolds had to be replaced, gas tanks, gas tank straps, you name it. Salt is a killer. But the rust / rot on this truck is strictly from the blocked drains in the cowling. I vacuumed out piles of rotted leaves from the Rocky Mountain High.....The floors and steps in the floor are all in good shape, if it was salt they would have been gone like the wind.
