That's nice Scott, Im very fond of station wagons, and that one is going to be beautiful when restored to it's former glory. Congrats!

Never was a fan of the wagons myself, they bring back too many not so fond memories of being cooped up in back of one with my big sister on long trips to Granny's house.
That does look like a great start to one fine ride though.

My folks had a 58 Ford wagon. I can't remember if it was 2 door or 4 door.

One day my mom decided to let me try to drive it while sitting in her lap. She was a tiny woman of only 4'11" but still taller than me at the time.

We had just visited a local farm in Sango, TN, at that time a rural suburb of Clarksville to pick up a load of used cow feed for fertilizing our vegetable garden.

As we were on the downward slope of a hill and approaching a T in the road (turn left or right or go into the ditch) she calmly told me to step on the brakes. I had never done that before, so I had no idea how much pressure to apply. After the second and third somewhat calm "step on the brakes", and before we went into the ditch, Mama hit the brake pedal (on top of my foot) for me.

We stopped. Good brakes. Our little terrier who was riding in the back seat hit the back of the front seat (poor dog). But the manure made it over the seats all the way to the front...

I didn't get to try driving again for several years...
