Priming the HPOP with Oil Cooler Installed

Vehicle is a 2003 Excursion with the Powerstroke 6.0.

I'm putting the engine back together after replacing the oil cooler and head gaskets and installing ARP studs. I also replaced the HPOP while I was in there. The oil cooler/filter base, intake, and turbo are back in place, but I forgot to fill the valley reservoir with oil.

My question is this: Can I fill the HPOP reservoir through the oil pressure test port on the front of the oil cooler, or perhaps through the oil supply port on the turbo?

I really don't want to pull the turbo, intake, and oil cooler again.

Thanks,
Jay

If I'm not mistaken, you can fill via the oil filter housing.

Remove the oil filter standpipe and add the engine oil through the filter housing.

^^---Exactly. I would add with the oil filter removed looking down into the housing there are three Torx screws at the base of the standpipe, only the rear screw needs to be removed, twist the standpipe and it will lift out with the other two still in place. Be sure to use the correct size Torx, I forget the number but one size too small will bite but can strip the head of the screw...yup, don't ask.

Pouring the oil in the hole it will go right in the resivour. I think it normally has about a quart in it but you can pour as much as you want in there and the extra will find it's way into the oil pan.
