I don't have the stock unit. Wish I did, so I am looking for some cool ideas.

I wish there was some. There is the round chrome aftermarket frisbees and K&N.
I don't know of any other options myself. But I'm interested.

I run the original on my '78 F250. It is "cool" as on cool air intake from in front of the radiator bulkhead. If/when I modify the engine I'll be looking for a higher capacity cool air setup. On other projects I have used the Edelbrock 14"x3" open element filter. It breathes well, has a moderate drop base and is cost effective (around $25 at AZ). Its not a cool air setup however. On a hot day, intake temps around 160 F are typical.

I've got a mid 60's oil bath filter that I gutted and put a paper filter in. It looks just like this one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...1&d=1260245726
