1955 door question

I went and started some work on the doors today and noticed some minor differences. My doors have the exact same layering of colors down to bare metal so I assume they were both original with the truck but now I'm questioning this.

On the drivers door there are a series of small 1/8 inch holes around both outer edges and towards the bottom, which I believe are for an interior door panel. Then at the top are 6 smaller holes that I believe some trim piece attaches to.

Now on the passenger door these are not present. So are these 2 doors from different model trucks or is this factory? Never paid that close attention to the detail before.

I will try and post pictures later if the question isn't answered.

Thanks
Mike

Does the dash have these holes? I am not sure of the model but I believe the trim package is called the custom deluxe package. I bought a 55 for the doors and it had this package the trim goes from door to door and across dash. The 55 I bought also had the stainless gull wings on the grill.

Yeah it is the custom cab model. Has the holes on the dash along with front grill. Just not on the passenger door. Does that mean my door was replaced at some point or the trim didn't go all the way onto the passenger door?

Seems odd to me if it did not.

The passenger door has been replaced with a non- Custom Cab door by the sounds of it.

Yes it means the passenger door has been replaced. You can drill the holes or weld them up in the dash and drivers door. Here is the only place I find them now

Well this has become a downer of a day. Guess I will need to decide whether to drill or weld to get the look I want. Thank you for the replies and thanks gerrymoe for the links I will bookmark them for later.

Does anyone have interior pictures of a stock custom cab door and others with stock doors without the trim so I can get a better idea of what it looks like?

I found this with Google. I have no idea what the duplex outlet on the steering column is for.

Here are some of the things you will find in the custom cab:

That duplex electrical outlet was a little known special order option which was used to plug in the optional Ford electric razor.

Thanks for the picture and pointing out the differences. I'm gonna go with the custom can interior look to keep it how it should be. Is there an armrest on both doors or just the driver? Just want to make sure before I go cut stuff out for them.

Does anybody have or sell templates for the kick and door panels? I found some abs ones online but figured I would make my own considering the price. Can't seem to find any templates though.

Both doors had the arm rests in the Custom Cab.

The original door panels were a cardboard material which is reproduced. check Mid-Fifty for their price.

The custom cab also had a panel behind the seat that matches the headliner and door panels.

There is a guy that sells the patterns on eBay. The set includes the door panel, headliner, and kick panel patterns. I hate to post eBay links because they're going to be dead one day. Dead links drive me crazy. (It's a short trip.)
