Towing with the Atlas 40 and Matt's 8/13K tow

I'm planing a vacation late October and will have a Travel Trailer in tow.

Trailer specs:

27' Crossroads Sunset Trail 2700BH
Gross Vehicle Weight 7630
Dry weight with out options 5385

Truck specs:

-Atlas 40 FICM
-4 inch Straight Pipe
-Stock Injectors
-AFE Stage 2 SI Intake
-Stock Turbo with Riffraff Billet Wheel
-Gearhead Tunes (SRL+, 8/13K tow, Unlmited Tow)
-Studded
-Deleted

Coming before the trip:

-V/B code Springs
-Upgraded Brakes
-Weight Distibuting Hitch (provided)
-Tekonsha Prodigy P3 TBC (eBay)

I have two questions:

1. Is there anything else I should consider as far as towing equipment?

2. If you've towed a similar load with the Atlas 40 and Matt's 8K tow (13K for studded trucks) how were EGTs?

3. Would you have used the "Unlimited" tow tune instead?

Studded I would keep the 8K tune.

Being stock head bolts my personal limit is 6k loaded trailer before I switch to Unlimited or Stock.

When I pull my trailer, which looks right at the same weight as yours, I run Matt's unlimited tow tune, tuned for the Atlas 40 and powermax turbo. I'm not studded, so I don't use the #8000 tune.

Out here climbing the Cascade range, it keeps the RPMs a little higher. I do not have an EGT gauge, sorry. It is better than the stock tune running the powermax turbo.

If I was studded, I would definitely run the #8000 tune if it has some tuning for your turbo with the billet if needed. Don't know if Matt would say you needed a change for that turbo. Might want to chat with him on this.

You won't have to worry about egt with either tune.

I have a similar set up as you. I hauled my slide in camper this weekend and flat towed my YJ. YJ is about 4200# and the camper weights about 2600#. Using the 8K tune it worked awesome. As long as I could keep my speed at 65-70mph (whichever the speed limit was) I could pull any grade I wanted to. Every now and then a douchebag trucker would change lanes lanes and cut me off and I'd have to slow which caused a downshift.
On the Afton Mountain climb on I-64 (VA) I hit 1250 degrees but it held steady for that pull which was 4-5 minutes. If I was towing a heavier trailer then I'd say perhaps you want to keep an eye on those EGTs. I don't think I'd just call it good and not keep an eye out. I would not have had to stop, but I might have had to let it downshift to get those temps down.

Why do you want to change springs? I don't think you'll need to with that WDH. The only other thing I'd suggest if you don't have are E load range tires. That WDH should keep some load on that steer axle and level. If not I'd do air bags before I switch springs.
