1956 F-100 build
Hi everyone,
Just introducing myself and my new project, a '56 F-100.
I bought it in June and am in the process of a full tear-down/build-up, pretty much replacing everything. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone else's builds and experience.
Replacing the y-block with a 351C and have a 5 speed TKO and a new 9 inch. Experimenting with the hood at the moment to get the patina just right and then that'll go over the rest of the truck. Sticking with stock suspension setup on mid-fifties down and forward springs. PS. PB with discs.
I have plenty of photos once I work out how to attach them.
Cheers

Yep, they were Stewart Warner oil pressure, water temp and amperes gauges.
I say were because I have pulled them out and was planning on closing up the holes, tough now that you mention it, a vacuum, tach and maybe temp or voltage could be handy....
coincidentally they're all for sale!!! ; When it was originally rodded in the 70's, it had the same three gauges on the column drop as well...

Clinton, I was really lucky to find it. The body and frame is in RIDICULOUSLY good shape. I have a 98 truck with more rust than this one does. There is some surface rust on the roof and I may have to repair a section of drip rail and a corner of the hood but thats about it. High pressure wash and some black paint and the frame looks like it has just come from the factory floor.
I think having a leaky 312 under the hood, spraying oil everywhere for the past 50 years has done it some favors after all.

I thought about that as well but I'm building it for the long term and the old drivetrain just won't do for a daily driver. Plus I know the paint looks ok from the pics but it's an old lacquer job that has split and cracked everywhere and is not really protecting the metal anymore. Double plus, I've been lucky and scored some amazing deals on parts.
So all that added up = complete rebuild
