The second one is your voltage regulator and has nothing to do with the ignition system. No idea what the dude above me is talking about. If you take it out, you can thank that guy for your truck not charging.

I can't answer the rest of your questions unless you explain what it is you're actually working with.

I'm removing all the wires.
I have an all in on distributor from dui.
I'm dropping a built motor in and trashing the feed back system.

Well actually I thought the second photo was the truck's computer. So that was my reason for saying no.

Swap in a 92 Taurus alternator and you won't need the second pic :-)

I'm picking up a 97 f350 parts truck and I plan on taking the heavy duty alternator off of it

Nope. Voltage regulator. See the connector? I, A, S, F: ignition (charge light), alternator (sense), stator, field. It is required unless you swap in a later-model internally regulated alternator, such as a 3G.

The second one looks like a MAP sensor. Your DUI distributor won't use it. I've only seen those on EFI vehicles; I'm less familiar with the feedback system. But it would have been part of that. If you've got a standalone carburetor and all-in-one distributor, you don't need a MAP sensor.

I don't understand what you're asking. The first picture is a MAP sensor. The second picture is a voltage regulator. Neither is a computer. That is all.

Your last post said. " The second thing is" twice. I was confused.
Is the feedback computer not under the dash?

Whoops, sorry for the confusion. That post should have said "first one." I think you know what I mean though.

Under the dash would be my first guess at the feedback carburetor amplifier. You'll have to look.

Okay I just wanted to make sure.

Yes I do bekive that is where it is. I haven't gotten to that point yet. I have to work on it on weekends after a 4hr drive up from base so my motivation is slowly dwindling:/

Motor should be done soon tho!

The "feedback" computer is indeed under the dash, to the left of where the ash tray is located. It is mounted vertically.

On the engine side of the firewall, there is a large bundle of wires going through a rubber grommet. Just follow the wires and they will lead you to the computer.

As you remove these items [i.e. MAP sensor, computer, etc.], save them in a box because from time to time, there will be someone on the forum looking for these parts and you can help them out!
