If I saw a whole regiment charging me with picnic tables, I would die laughing!

Seriously though,

If it were same era tech, yeah it would be a scary sight. Thats a lot of heavy metal heading your way. The only upside is the guys were only like 4' tall back then!

Mine comes out easier then that Tim. But a triangular wound will never heal. Even modern medicine cant fix it very well without alot of skin grafts. If the actual running through doesnt get ya the infections sure would. And I can also shoot once it has run through 2 people. ALthough 550 grain soft lead round would probably do alot more damge then most newer rounds.

belive it or not alot of the guys back then were at least 5 feet tall some taller then that. Our standard tents we use are 6'6" tall.

Add to that Tim the British army would stagger the heights of the bayonets. first rank would be parallel to the ground. Second and third rank would be vertical. Thats why most battles were fought and won without very many casualties. It was about who scared the other side off the field first back then. Add to that the British military was also the best trained especially when it came to the use of bayonets.

It would Devon. Add to that we can still fire and load with them in place.

Holy crap! A whole 5' tall! -jk

Yes, I am aware of the devastation the triangle blade profile causes. Here is my WW1 Trench knife in a homemade kydex holster. Very scary to get stuck with that blade profile. They were ahead of their time when they thought that shape up for muskets.

Definite props to the British tactics. Their inability to cope with the honourless guerrilla tactics we used during the revolutionary war is the only reason we were able to defeat them. Toe to toe with them and we would not have lasted a single winter.

That they were Tim. And for the length as well. Modern bayonets are not that long at all.

Yup, most are much smaller now. Mostly because they are more than bayonets now, they are used as utility knives, close quarters weapons and it even has a built in wire cutter in the sheath. I dont think there has been a bayonet charge since Korea. Those were still a bit longer, I believe they were garands.

That they are Tim. More utility knife then anything else nowadays. And I believe you are correct. No bayonet charges since the 50's.
