we'll have the house cleaned in case we need an impromptu meeting place. we're only 3 miles away from the location.
hope ya'lls week is finishing up nicely. today is essentially my friday. tomorrow is a full day of training out at station golden gate (north end of GG bridge right at base on the the water)

forgot to ad this in there as well.
Joe, thanks for the offer on the rim. i'll keep searching… i've never needed one on-the-road. its always been when i've parked the truck and walked out hours later only to notice the hissing or completely flat tire from hitchhiked screw or nail.
hank, that pup is DARNED cute. rosie and i are already talking about dog #2. we all know what that means...

Less than an hour before the NFL season starts!!! Sierra Nevada Pale Ale cracked and disappearing.
On the truck front, I sucked it up and brought my truck down to get some sweet love from Duck Fan. I can't think of anyone better to tune 'er up and fix all the little things I've been meaning to do. I've been busy lately pulling the intake, carb, dizzy, timing cover, water pump, etc from the Pelican. Giving it a little bit of a motor make over before the Falcon Club Western Regional Meet in Redwood City next month. Edelbrock carb and manifold are out, Totally restored Autolite 4100 and vintage Shelby COBRA intake are going in!!! Between that, maintenance on the Boss 302, and working 6 days a week I figured I needed help with the trucka.

happy friday crew! i thought i'd have a nice weekend full of R and R.. a little truck maintenance, a few beers, getting some solid rest. i think i will, turns out after a trip to the ER today i've got a nice case of cellulitis on my right elbow from ingrown hairs. SO, as the swelling continues i'm on a couple antibiotics. steering clear of steering maintenance and those few beers and tastings at st.george's distillery…
chillin on the couch now. ice, pills, ice cream, and not delivery, but DIGORNO!!
cheers guys. have a good weekend.

I'm still alive and my house is still here!
The fire has gotten very close. Within about 3 miles of my house now. I spent the week in town so I wouldn't have to beg my way through the chp checkpoint every day while I was going to school.
It doesn't look like they'll stop it before it reaches the properties. I think theyre planning on using the river as the holding point. Trouble is my house is on the fire side of the river... We're not real worried about losing houses, but it will definitely be too close for comfort.

A buddy of mine is assigned to that fire and I just spoke with his wife this afternoon. She said he tore a ligament in his leg and they're sending him home. He's due to arrive home tomorrow, once relief arrives to take his place. He is a fire engine captain so he can't just pack up and leave his crew.

We're almost to 90k acres now, and around 3000 total personnel.
We've had 3 other big fires in the county this summer, all 30k acres or more and they didn't lose any homes in any of those. Theyve done a great job this summer with structure defense. In this territory here there isn't a whole lot they can do to stop the thing in the forest, they have to just protect homes and rely on the rivers and paved roads to stop it.
