Ford Continued Service Plan (CSP)

My 2010 Expy 4x4 has 95,000 on it. Ford is offering the Ford Continued Service Plan (CSP) extension.

What do you guys think of CSP? Is it a good buy or do I take the risk and not do it?

Thanks.

Chuck

It extends the 100,000 mile ESP to 160,000 miles or 12 years. I'll hit the 160,000 in 3 years. A $500 deductible is $170 a month.

But how do you pay? If you hit the mileage limit in 3 years do you stop paying then? Probably not.

What is the total cost of the warranty? If you get 3 years out of it you will pay $6120 and have to pay $500 per incident. If that's the case, I wouldnt. Put the $170 in your bank every month and draw on it only if you need it. Good luck.

And by the way, I also put a lot of miles on mine. Effectively 27k per year.

Good questions. You pay the $170 a month until you hit either 160K or 12 years. Then you stop paying.

But you're right... it's probably better to save the money and do your own repair when needed.

Thanks for the help.

I've never owned a vehicle new enough to be on warranty, however I view this the same as getting sold extended warranty in the big box stores. They wouldn't offer it if they weren't going to make money off of it. IMHO all you're buying is peace of mind. If you sign up you are going to give ford $6K whether you need it or not. That's quite a few repairs that could be done. As long as you keep up with maintenance I bet you'll be further ahead to opt out and fix issues as they appear. Unless the vehicle is a lemon.
