Radio *****

74 F100 Custom

I have two sets of radio *****. Both sets are identical except one set is all chrome and one set has black in the middle of the *****. I'm guessing the black middle are correct as they match my wiper and headlight ****.

So what do the all chrome ***** go to? Identical but with no black. Different F100 trim line? I'd like to find a home for these.

Early dents had the black centers, I 'think' '75 is the year they changed to the all chrome *****.
The early A/C heat control ***** also had black centers.

Ok, thanks for the info. My HVAC ***** have the black in them, as well.

Kind of neat seeing all of the minor, barely noticeable, changes that car manufacturers make over the year.

Hey Mike, anyone have those older style *****, in particularly the A/C Controls, I have lots but the chrome is flaking off and I prefer this older style- would love to get my hands on some NOS ones

I think the correct part number for the A/C control ***** with the black insert is D1AZ-18519-A. The only p/n the catalog shows for the ***** is D4AZ-18519-A and this is for the all chrome ****.
D1AZ-18519-A
Klimesh Motor Sales, Calmar, IA has 17 (563) 562-3241
Wesley Obsolete Parts, Liberty, KY has 6 (606) 787-5293
Kerlin Motor Co, Silver Lake, IN has 12 (260) 352-2162

There are a few other dealers that have one or two.

On parts like this you may be surprised at the price. On obsolete parts some dealers actually discount below what they originally paid for the part, others will rip you off charging a ungodly price. You gotta call around.
These parts have been sitting on the shelf for years and were written off years ago. Anything the dealer sells it for is 100% profit. This, of course doesn't apply to obsolete suppliers.

Also, technically, the ***** aren't chrome plated. The process is called vacuum metalizing and involves vaporized aluminum.
