Leak at rear of transfer case
Alright so to start off, this is my first ford vehicle ever, picked up a 1989 F-150 xlt lariat with 98,000 original miles on it. 4x4 5 speed
Got this leak at the rear of the transfer case, the pictures got rotated when i uploaded them so i apologize for that, but it appears to be leaking between where the "tailshaft section?" meets the transfer case? I dont believe there is a seal between this section (I may be wrong) so is this what i am seeing or is there another explanation for it? If so is this just as simple as pullin the driveshaft and pulling that off, cleaning and rtv'ing it back on? I checked around the speed sensor (i believe thats what it is) on top because i seen a few people having a leak from there and running down but it doesnt appear its that.
Last picture where that tag is bolted on is where the fluid ends up dripping from, picture is upside down
Thanks in advance

Do you have any driveline vibration?
It's not common to leak from the tailshaft-TC housing joint.
If you're going to pull it off, at the very least replace the output seal and check the bushing for wear and the shaft for scoring.
It is simple to R&R the housing.
You can use RTV for a seal if you clean the mating surfaces well.
Remember, the oil pump is driven off the output in a 1356.
