dana 44 1 inch tapered block?

i know blocks are a nono for the front....but....

would a tappered block, like 1 inch with 1/2 pitch, be good for straitening out the low pinion pitch of the dana 44 ? just to get better driveline angles? thanks

Is there a chance that this low-pinion D44 is under the front of a highboy (73-77.5 F250 4wd)? If this is the case, then there are other solutions to your situation.

How about some truck specs to get a handle on what your working with?
Is it safe to say that the truck is lifted ,thus creating your pinion angle issue?

no the truck is stock hieght, on 37s.. i just want a better pinion angle for the front.. i dont feel like swapping my roller bearing 60 in it.... because i gota change my gears out too..i plan on just leveling it out with the 1 inch blok, and have it tappered to fix my angle... and the rest is only gona be a 3 inch body...stock springs flec pretty good just need a couple more inches for wheel spacing

you put that block in and it will change how the truck steer's, be ready for it.

You should do the following:

1) stop making new threads for every thought that pops into your head. You have 3 made for 1 issue.

2) post up your vehicle specs

3) post pictures

Blocks and shackles will ALWAYS be a fiery subject on here and any other site.. no they are not the preferred or correct way but there are many who swear by them.. if you have your mind made up on them, try them.. you will not win that debate here

you change your caster angle you will start getting the death dart and will make it scary and dangerous to drive, don't mess with it. i accidently put the caster shims backwards on my 64 landcruiser when i threw a lift kit in it and i ended up being 8 degree's off and it didn't take long to realize something wasn't right.

You said earlier

.... that block is gonna be maybe 3-1/2" long max. with 1/2" taper front to rear .... call it 8 degrees that you are rolling the front axle backwards, and 8 degrees you are rotating the knuckles backwards under the truck .... that'll create big negative caster numbers and likely a dangerous to drive truck.
