Holley Truck Avenger Leaking gas all over intake manifold
#17
Ha ha , yeah i thought that was the way you knew you had a holley , never had one yet that never leaked some place even when they were new.
I used them back in the 60s and they were worse than the newer ones.

I like the Stant locking gas cap non vented I've used for many many yrs well over 35+ Yrs. with only it's sealing lip gasket going bad from the gas or ozone dry rot of the rubber.
May be it's from the bad cap or the fuel regulator is a little to high for the needle seat to be able too handle 7 psi for some reason. But even holly recommends the 5.5-6 psi for street vehicles.
Well if it happens again with a new cap then, I'd make a few little adjustments to the fuel Pressure.
If you had a long ways to push the gas like a from a rear mounted tank then it would possibly help you some, if your just drag racing the truck and using a big double pumper like a 850+ cfm carb & bigger with high flow needle seats.
Why would be need to be running higher then 6 psi fuel pressure.
Since your only moving gas from point A to Point B being tank to the carb float blows, in which it don't make the gas shoot or move it down the carb throats any faster.
Most bogging troubles can be carb jetting or acc pump shooter jets to small or out of adjustment..
Well hopefully with the summer months over and so is your leaking sun heat soak tank problems.
