ABS light

So after replacing my passenger side hub assembly I thought this would fix the ABS light but it didn't. The Explorer shifts horribly so the next option was the VSS, After that replacement was finished I cleared the codes and the check engine light us now off but the ABS light is still on ? At normal running engine temperatures the explorer still shifts hard and seems thunk, thunk down the road not as bad as before but still significant. I'm desperate to find a solution and hope it is not transmission problems any help would be greatly appreciated

The ABS light may come on from any problems detected in the brake system. It may affect the shifting, but I think only the TC lock up; I think ABS faults will disable it.

A couple things to check:

Make sure the master cylinder is full, or the float is not stuck down somewhere.

Check the shuttle valve switch (usually on the MC); pull it out to see if corrosion is shorting it to ground. If so clean it out. Also make sure the shuttle valve hasn't actually shuttled; it can happen when you bleed your brakes too aggressively. If it did, you need to nudge it back to center.

The connectors to those switches are designed to set a fault if you try to disconnect them, so you can't try to cheat them.

Another cause is burnt out brake lights.

These are the easy checks for the most common causes.
