This is the only option my truck didn't come with that I'd like to have, I'm not afraid to drill holes into the roof of my new truck, I've done dumber over the years, just seems like I'd need to build scaffolding around the truck to get up there, hahaha

Thanks

Also get a 1/2 inch knockout drill. Much better than a hole saw or unibit

I didn't need to make a hole that big, just big enough to pass wires.

I used the oem cab lights which do need that sized hole.

Does this come with the mounting hardware or do I need to go buy that separately?

Just trying to decide if I go with a Tousely Ford order ($135 +10 shipping) or if I should go with the Ebay option and get the template.

I'm not sure the template is worth the extra 40 bucks.....

Opinions?

No. You need the 10 nuts also. They are the 10mm. No need to get template. I pulled a string from middle of the front ford emblem to the middle of the rear emblem then measured off that. Turned out perfect.

I called the ebay seller and the template is not for the layout of the lights on the roof. The template is just to locate the three holes for each light. You still have to find the center of the truck, measure back from the windshield and space by yourself. Once you locate the center light hole location, the template will help locate the three holes for a single light.

I was looking for a paper template that located all 15 holes based on the windshield.

Sorry, been at work all week.

Thanks for the information and the phone call. I'll order the pieces on my own and save the 40 bucks. I was looking for a template for all of the holes and locating the lights on the cab.

If you use a 1/2 inch knockout drill, you are actually making a hole about 3/4" to 7/8" in diameter, correct. The 1/2 inch knockout drill makes a hole large enough to fit 1/2 inch conduit. Am I thinking correctly?

Yes, a 1/2" conduit knockout is actually 7/8" diameter.

Thank you for the reply. I'm thinking about doing this. Been reading here and watching on YouTube how to do this for 2.5 years. The newness has worn off the 2011 beast and it might happen.

It is easy. Just use blue painters tape and lay everything out. I used a template that I made out of cardboard to mark the hole locations and then measure again.

My lights should get here this Friday! I'm not sure if I'll do the work this weekend though. I think I read somewhere that said don't use Harbor Freight 1/2" knockout drill. Is there a better one I can get a Lowes / HD?
