48-50 instrument gauge cluster

How do you remove it carefully to get to the back side? For instance, to change bulbs and add an Instrument Voltage Regulator?

Search is your friend... Do an Advanced Search, not the large Search box at the top of the screen. Select this forum and you will get hundreds of relevant results.

Ross' guidance is helpful. Knowing that a relatively recent thread was particularly well illustrated, this may be of some use to you:

Take the seat out - even us over-sized mechanics fit.

as forty niner says, with the seat out you can get yourself under the dash and change out the bulbs and add voltage drops without removing the cluster (unless you want to remove the cluster anyway, thin, maybe 3? bolts / nuts holding it in?). ross's search instructions will help you find some options for voltage drops including junk yard piece or home made devices that can drop the voltage for all the gauges in one shot.

I did it all and have dash lights now, but the fuel gauge doesn't work still. Are there replacements? I wonder if the higher voltage damaged it over the years.

Yes, thank you for reminding me. I run my own forum too, just got in a hurry and not thinking to search first.
