If so then I would go with more gear than 4.30s with those big tires. I wanted to run 35"s and get better towing performance from my rig, we pull a 41' 11k TT and the 3.73s just weren't much fun on any size hill. I went with 4.88s for an effective ratio of 4.39, pulls great, really great with the Banks headers and 5 Star tunes. It has been discussed so much as to be considered Gospel that the V-10 LOVES 4.30s for any serious towing, and from my experiences it does, it loves a real 4.88 even more. I ran 32"s with the 4.88s for a while before I got the 35"s and WOW did the Ex love the hills then! Solo mileage suffered a bit with the 4.88/32"s though, with the stock 31.5"s and 3.73s I was seeing tank averages in the 14 MPG range, with 32"s and 4.88s solo tanks were around 11 MPG now with the 35"s and 4.88s I am seeing averages of 12.5 MPG as the norm. Towing MPGs went from 6.5 to 7.5 MPG stock up to the 8.5 to 9.25 MPG we are seeing now, since towing is the EX's main job that's a win for me!
It is a bullet proof 6.0 so I'm hoping 4.30 will be good enough as I do a few run from BC to southern California with no trailer and I don't want to chew even more fuel.

Here is a question for all of you. At the bottom of all your posts are stats on your personal trucks. Where do I go to fill mine in?

In one of the next generation 2016/2017 Super Duty spy shots, the reflective sides of the towing mirrors were revealed (the forward side was still masked).

On THOSE mirrors, the lower convex portion finally extends all the way across.

I suppose it will be time for another upgrade once those mirrors come out.

If the mounting configuration is the same.

I must be the only guy in the world that doesn't like the way these mirrors look. They're just so, square.

Nope. You're not the only guy in the world who thinks the 08+ mirrors are too "square" for the 99-07 body style lines. I think the 08 mirrors are well matched to the 08-10 trucks, for which they were updated to compliment.

However, form follows function, and other than not sticking out far enough, most people agree that the 08+ mirrors are more functional. I certainly wouldn't mind having power fold and power telescoping mirrors, for as many times as I have to get back out of the truck to unfold my mirrors.

I'm with you on that, I like the outside housing looks of the old style better.....but the "business end" ( the part you use) of the new style is soo much better.

Thanks for chiming in, guys. The stock TT mirrors just roll so nicely with the HL, and fender lines, IMO. My X came with nemo mirrors. I swapped them to the the TT mirrors within 6 months, and that was a huge improvement. I see enough with them to be comfortable. I mean really, why do I have to look back at those people anyway? I just passed them a second ago.

I saw this guy yesterday. Do F150s come stock with these honkers? They looked huge on the truck?

Back to the original question. I bought the OE mirrors because I wanted power fold/extend. I think you will get the best bang for your buck, however, with aftermarket mirrors.

To be honest, I installed my OE mirrors in April and have not yet wired up the power fold/extend as it will take some special wiring with relays. Just been too busy...

Form and function for me. The 05s seem to have more of a square front end and I think the rectangular mirrors tie in nicely and when backing a trailer of 35' long, the tires are a little tough to see through the passenger mirror so I'm hoping this will improve rather than determining if I need to wear my glasses more.

And thanks for helping me understand where to update my signature. Check that item off my list.

Cant beat the fit and finish of the OEM ones, messed with the aftermarket ones and I don't like how the glass fits in the mirror. Just bought another set of OEM 08 for my 7.3
