I have a 97 f 350 it starts and idles fine for as long as u want well 30 min at least cause that's as long as I let it before driving it but I drove it for prob 10 miles and it started shuddering and died like it ran out of fuel so I checked the bowl and it was full I cranked on it with short periods until it started it went another 5 miles and did it again my point is sometimes it will run for days fine and sometimes it does this. Any ideas?

 

Probably the CPS and/or UVCH is toast. Welcome to FTE.

 

The tach moves while cranking it could that still be the problem? also the wait to start light comes on. It is showing no active codes when scanned.

 

Sounds like a bad cps

 

If the CPS is bad or going bad will it throw a code?

 

Check to see if the IPR still has the tin nut on it, and it is tight. My 96 C&C would die randomly. Sometimes it would start right back up, and sometimes it woul take several tries. Checked the IPR, and the nut and spacer were MIA. A different IPR, and all is good.

 

Cps will not set a CEL
