Will You Ever Be "Finished" With Your Build?

Maybe it's just me but I have yet to own a vehicle that I didn't want to change something about. Aside from driving, personalizing and improving the performance of your truck can be one of the most enjoyable aspects of ownership. We all know that one mod leads to another but when does it stop? Will your build ever be complete?

I drive E-Series vans and sadly ?? the last four have always been works in progress. Just when I think I'm done another idea crops up I simply can NOT live without and it begins all over.

It must be a sickness we have---or are we just exercising our creative energies in the automotive way?

Hard for me I jump from project to project so I have yet to truely finish a vehicle.

My truck is the closest to being completed as all it needs is a paint job new wood in the bed and the final finishing touches to make it my own.

My '63 is still stripped down need to finish stripping the body to bare metal for paint then reassembly time.

My '56 I been messing with lately but I plan on getting the engine running again and then drive as is till I finish my '63 so I can do a frame up restoration on this one.

My '78 havent done much to her lately, never finished my LED conversion on her only got as far as the front lights, still need to get the brake lights.

I wonder if, as men of constant re-habbing, if we ever truly completed just one project would our heads explode? I mean gasp the thought of such a thing!!

i took my 53 effie apart and figured it would only be a year or so before it was back together .................... WELL 4 years later thanx to life in general and other unforseen issues it still isn't anywhere near done and it don't help i keep swinging back and forth on changes to it ............ so nope it's never done !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'll be lucky if i drive it again for my 60th birthday and by then i'm not gonna want to deal with manual disc brakes , steering and transmission so that of course will have to be changed ......................

I've been working on my '64 Falcon convertible for over 25 years and it's in worse shape than it was 25 years ago!!! I get it from my dad. He worked on his '32 Ford Woodie Wagon for over 40 years, but he actually did complete it. In fact, he showed it last weekend at the Early Ford V8 Club regional and got his coveted Dearborn Award.

I always finish my build. There is no other option for me nor my personality. I got the Polara finished in 1 year with an engine rebuild one day in it's future but not a necessity. When I put the rebuild engine back in the truck I will pretty much be done with it outside of a few I beam rubber bushings. Then it will be on to the Park Lane.

When on the Hornet I set goals as to what I want done by a certain point in time and check them off my to do list as they are done. I do not allow distractions and stay on topic until finished and then can move to the next goal. In short I like to see goals finished one at a time and in order rather than have many open ones at one time. Same at work when writing in a record one does not disturb me for something else until that record is finished.

That's a gorgeous '32 Woodie---never thought I'd say that to another man though!

I'll bet its flawless, completely deserving any awards coming its way.
