I noticed a few weeks ago when I was in the bed of my truck that the black plastic trim piece around the rear window appears to be broken. it's on the left side near the top. when I look down there it looks like the brackets are broken on one side. I've never noticed any water leak back there. has anyone had this happen to them? I'd like to definitely get it fixed, but I don't think the dealer would have a listing for it anymore if it's not crazy expensive. I looked at LMC truck and there doesn't seem to be what I need on there. does anyone have any suggestions? it's a 2002 F150 Lariat Supercrew non-sliding window.

 

the window unit has studs on its frame and it bolts to the rear of the cab with nuts on the inside (behind all the plastic trim and head liner. The plastic trim also has studs and bolts on to the cab wall around the glass. The trim has nothing to do with sealing out water, and nothing to do with the window.. It is "trim" only. There was a post a couple years ago with some photos on how to remove... You pull off the plastic post covers behind the seat, then pull the headliner down and inch or two to get to all the nuts.

You will have to remove the window first to get the trim off. The trim is over $400.00 Go to your local scrap yard.

 

I have the sliding glass window in my 2002 F150, and the drivers side trim has come loose. When I first bought the truck, same issue developed. Took it to the dealer, warranty covered it. It's not warranted anymore 161,000 miles. It seems like there should be a hook of some sort inside but I don't see anything like that. It doesn't leak,so it's on my" to do" list that gets longer all the time. I have a feeling auto carwashes might have something to do with it?

 

How about squirting some black RTV behind the trim and pushing it back into position ? Not perfect, but save about $395. !

 

that's an option for right now, but eventually I will get it fixed.

this sure is on my "to do" list also.
