How do you tell a the difference ??

How do you tell the difference between a Windsor and a Cleveland block?
I have a 71' f100 I know it has a 360ci in it.But which one ? Or is it neither?

360 is neither, 360 is an FE motor. The cleveland was a 351. Never a truck motor either.

However, if you wish, I can go deeply into the cleveland engines. I think they are one of the best engines ever.

Yep, you already identified it in a sense. You have a FE360. Then there is a 351 Cleveland or a 351 Windsor. And none of the parts from the latter two will work on your FE that I know of.

There is also the 351M, but that didn't come around until mid 70s.

FE engines are all very much alike. 390 and 360 are basically identical in every aspect except crank.

Okay after researching the web I found out a little about the FE engine. I know now what the "FE" stands for . Ford/Edsel engines are what ford used in their light duty trucks. My question now is it worth the time , energy and$$ to rebuild one? I'm not after huge HP but would not mind a little extra get and go. Any thought on what direction I should go?

You can (relatively) easily turn your 360 into a 390 by swapping out the crankshaft and rods.

The other most-commonly mentioned upgrade for these engines is exhaust headers and dual exhaust. The factory manifolds and exhaust don't let the engines breathe as well as they are able.

FE = Fu#*ing Expensive

Great motors but pricey to rebuild compared to 289/302/351w
truck is already set up for the FE better to leave it and rebuild , swapping in a SBF will end up same money just spent on different parts (trans ,perches,driveshaft....etc)

I've built a 360 with good results, it was just a gas hog so I went diesel instead.
Cast iron S code 4BBL intake, dual exhausts, Delta mid-range torque grind cam, and advanced the cam timing 4*. A Holley 4160 600cfm carb, DSII conversion, and a few other minor tweaks rounded out the build. That thing was great, it did 65-70 down the freeway with 9k behind it with room for more, it just topped out at 12mpg. I had about $1200 into the engine plus my time.
