Only with a load applied. It shifts into all gears easily enough. But it's only in 3rd, and only at just about 3,000 RPM where it pops right out.

Looking at this picture I took of it, comparing it to Novak, it looks like an NP435, right?

I had a trans that did the same thing, it wound up being the 3rd gear syncro that was bad.

Should not be that bad $ wise to get replaced, the hard/$$ part it pulling the trans/xfer case.

Drop the trans/xfer yourself, then take it to get fixed, unless you are brave and can read a book. Get in there and replace it yourself....some folks say.

I have read alot of folks do it themselves and its not that bad.

I love and support FTE 100% +60$, but I love information even better.

I find this interesting, all a syncro should do is align the gears so they don't grind when shifting. I've drove and worked on many 5 speed non synchronized trannies, usually what happens is the splines on the gear and mayby the shaft as well become worn allowing the gear to **** and is then pushed out as pressure is applied.
I'm always learning so hopefully we will learn the outcome on this tranny
