Angry WTF (what's the functionality) of the Rep System?!?

Is there a guide somewhere so I know how often I can rep someone? When I have to "spread around some reputation", how far do I have to spread it around?

This seems so stupid to me. I literally just tried to rep FOUR different people in different threads and I couldn't because I'd rep'd them too recently. Mind you, I haven't rep'd anyone in probably a month, if not more.

If reppage doesn't equal anything other than green dots, then why the hell do we have limits on how much reputation we can add?

If the green dots are to equate to someone's usefulness here, then why do I have to rep someone else before I can "thank" someone more than once? Doesn't this cheapen the system?

If a rep falls in the internet because I'm in rep jail so the person never knows about my attempt to rep them, does God kill a kitten?

Sorry, I don't get wrapped around the axle very often for something so stupid, but when I'm trying to give people credit and thanks for contributing to the community and get told I can't because I've thanked them too recently, it pisses me off.

Moderators of FTE Unite!!! and fix this stupid 5#!t.

/end rant

Years ago there were "Rep wars" and you could give out both positive reps and negative reps to anyone. Some people abused the system and made a mess out of it. Some would rep over and over just to see if they and their buddies could amass a huge amount of Positive reps. It was changed so you had to give reps to 10 OTHER people until you could rep the same one again. Negative reps were also taking out of the system. Is it perfect? Nope..... But it's a lot better than it use to be...

I see. So that's the threshold? I have to give reps to 10 unique people before repping the first one again.

Got it. Thanks, and sorry for the rant.

Not a rant I was composing an EPIC rant and then the missus walks in and ....

The more you write in your rep distribution the more rep points your recipient receives.

The more posts the user has will distribute more points. So people like GIGGER and others have a rep hammer, so does our Immaculate Stewart.

Greenies (in the upper right hand box) max out @ 2500 rep points.

Then, it's just braggin' rights.

Awesome Title.

I think the negative reps could be useful, but only if they worked on the internet as a whole and not just this forum. Being a dick here should show everywhere else too.

They have negative rep in real life, it's just you have to force it on them

Wouldn't it be great to have some sort of "community neg rep"? In other words, if a particular poster said something REALLY wrong or dumb and 10 people all hit the neg button, it could really help the community at large... specifically when noobs stop by looking for advice and get....

Lol, plenty of thick skin here! Note that every poster in 'rep history' is fully loaded with greenies?

Me too...

Yes, there must be a penalty.

But we only give participation ribbons.

FACETIOUS and SARCASTIC.
