1992 f-250 VIN number help

I have found a 1992 F-250,xlt, single cab, 4wd, 460, 5-speed close to my town that I am probably about to go buy. I was hoping that someone here could help me find out some more about the truck from the VIN before I drive 2 hours to look at it. All the guy can tell me is 7.5 V8, 5-speed, 4wd, everything works except the A/C, heat fan only works on high (probably just a switch). I would love to know some more about the running gear, axle ratio, etc...

Here is the VIN
1FTHF26G4NNA50279

The vin is only going to give you the year, motor size make and model, you need the build tag on the drivers door, that will tell you the axle's trans, paint code ect. Sorry for the bad news the vin is mostly the vehicle production number, what number it was made.

Hover over the VIN it will ask if you want to decode it, this website can do it for you. That truck has 355 gears

Click on the vin number in your post (its a blue clickable link to the vin decoder created by the board), then click on the "equipment" tab.

That's pretty awesome that this site can decode VIN's. I was hoping it had a lower ratio than that, but it looks clean, the interior is in great shape and the price is right. I'm gonna go look at it sometime this week and probably drive it home.

Is it at a dealership or on craigslist? If it's on c-list post up the link!
