400 / 6.6 - Which Intake will work with Factory AC?

Hello all,

You all were very helpful in my last post and I have one last question prior to moving ahead with your engine rebuild suggestions. Which Intake would work with my Factory AC in a 1979 Ford 150, 400 6.6L?

I was looking at getting one of the following:

WEIAND ACTION +PLUS INTAKE - FORD SMALL BLOCK V8

or

Intake Manifolds - Ford - 351M/400 - Performer Series - Edelbrock, LLC.

or

Do you have another suggestion?

Thanks!

Tim Meyer prefers the Weiand over the Eddy. HOWEVER, Weiand has apparently moved their production to China and the first round of 8010's are totally and completely unusable. I bought mine through Tim and he had it drop-shipped to me without seeing it. I slipped it on the engine and then realized the front of the manifold covered one of the two thermostat housing bolts and made it impossible to install the thermostat housing. Tim was appalled and scoured the warehouses for NOS 8010's. I don't know how many he found but he found at least one as I got it. So, if I were looking for an 8010 I'd go to Tim as anywhere else is highly likely to ship you a manifold that cannot be used.

However, the Eddy is a fine manifold and I'm currently running one on Rusty. And it as well as the original Weiand are compatible with A/C, at least in the 80's trucks. And, since ford was running the big York compressor in 79 like the did in 80 I'd bet either of them would work on your truck as well.

On my 72 Galaxie running a 400 I have a Holley Street Dom (single plane) and it fits well under the factory AC as fitted here in OZ. I think its and old York compressor

I've used the Edelbrock 2171 on the 400 with factory A/C.

No issues to report.
