catalytic converter cleaning

Has any one tried taking off catalytic converters and soaking them in water and detergent? I've seen you tube videos but just wanted to see if any one on this forum has done it. this option will be a lot cheaper instead of replacing the cats.I have a 2006 f-150 4x4 and its out of warranty.

I've Never heard of anyone needing to clean the cat since it's flow-through. People have cleaned
out their dpf filters on their diesels, however. What's the problem you're having?

Double check that. It's been my experience that smog equipment is covered for longer than the "bumper-to-bumper" warrantee.
