5.4l 3v

Has anyone heard how much hp and torque the 3v 5.4 is really putting out? Saw on a forum somewhere that someone who works at Windsor saw some numbers that were above the 300 advertised hp.

I'd hope so. The 4v makes 300. I just hope the vvt works/holds up to the test of time.

Yeah kind of makes me wonder how reliable some of the new features are going to be. But I guess Ford wouldn't be releasing it if they haven't done some serious research.

Don't bet on it. Take the new diesel for example. When Jim Padilla admits he's dissapointed in the 6.0 launch, you know something's wrong.

Makes me wonder now, just have to hope for the best. But Ford did do a pretty good job with my 2000 5.4l, so far over 45000 miles and not a problem.

I hope the new 5.4 doesn't rattle/clatter/rap/slap like the old 5.4. I'm on my second engine in my 2000 SD, and this one makes more noise than the original for the first few minutes after cold start, no matter what the outside temperature is. I wouldn't be so sure that they didn't screw something else up on the 3V.

Shouldn't slap like the previous models. They finally decided on longer skirted pistons. It only took 7 or 8 years.

Yes, they will have longer piston skirts. Also, I misquoted the spec's on the 3V 5.4.
The HP is correct. 300 40 more than the 2V.
Torque is 365 not 385. Only 15 more than the 2V.
Sorry for the misinformation. I try to always tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!!!!

Thanks Jimmy. I could have sworn I saw a post on a forum about the engine putting out more hp & tq than advertised, but can't find it anywhere. Probally just seeing things. Thanks again.
