SHTF & The Urban Jungle

You're stuck in an urban environment when the SHTF (much to the chagrin of most of you country boys, I'm sure....). Either you're trying to fight your way back home.......Fight your way OUT of your home......Or trying to leave the city. Assume you have to survive several days on foot.

Is this enough combat gear?

(Not shown: Mossberg pump 12-gauge 8-shell capacity......Several combat knives and a noggin-knocker......)

Hey. What can I say? 2020 is only 5-odd years away.

Primary sidearm (after the shotgun) Springfield XDM45 with 10 mags (130 rounds total). Secondary sidearm (after the 45-cal) Beretta P92FS with 10 mags (150 rounds total). S-REALLY-HTF backup piece.....S&W 'Shield' (9mm) with 3 mags (23 rounds total).

Have to check on the number of 12-ga shells I can stuff into a bandolier......or drop sack.

My side arm is the Beretta 92fs, leg holsters with 4 15 round clips, and 4 30 round clips, left leg holster is my ruger hi-power 4 15 round clips, Ruger mini 30 15 clips and enough 7.62x39 to carry. 45's stay home or hidden not enough capacity to heavy. SKS backup rifle plenty of 76.2x39. Remington 870, shorten and rifled barrel, scoped, mag extended, stap that holds 50 rounds 7/8 slug 3", plus two more around the shoulders, I will get out or in or keep someone out. I wont even begin to list the rest of my inventory, you never know who's whatching or reading.

I agree with your last point, David......But can you carry all those long-guns and ammo on your body?

I'd probably stick to one caliber with the pistols--if one jams badly or breaks after just a few rounds, you're left either humping around useless ammo until you can fix the gun, or you have to dump the ammo. Best would be another pistol or two that can accept the same magazines.

I'd want a Tommy gun with a couple 100-round magazines and a few 30-rounders. But, unless some very unforeseen fortune comes my way, that would not be in the budget...

Steve, I like the way you think but where is the wheel gun?

I have beau coup semi-autos but my last line of defense is my wheel gun. Why?
It never jams.
It is always on me. Always.

If I have room, I'd probably save a 5-shot (even if I only need one bullet) for me. I mean, if it's zombie-time, or I'm fighting cannibals, and they're getting past all the crap I have.....I'll save the last one for me. I'd rather be gnawed-on dead than alive......

Just picked up the XDM45 yesterday. Traded-in the M&P45 for it.

13-round mag in the XDM versus 10-round mag in the M&P. I'm being practical.

Oh yeah. The XDM is purtier.....

Have you shot the XDm yet?

The more I think about it, I think the poor XD SC would be replaced by my 686 Smith.

Nope. But can't wait.

I'll hand it to Springfield. LARGE case and they throw in a double mag-holder......range holster......and a mag loader. Good kit.

You're gonna love it.

I've got the 40 version. Some new sights would be great. They grab things in a holster and are not radioactive...

If you're really worried about SHTF scenarios, then I agree a carbine in the same caliber as your pistols would be beneficial.

I'm also curious as to what exactly you plan on doing once you make it out to the country? Country folk won't take to kindly to city folk invading their space, and they're armed and have the advantage of playing defense. But if you're serious, I'd suggest you add a 22 to your pack for hunting purposes, cuz you're gonna have to eat unless you go zombie on us.

I know I've got a few friends out in the country that would welcome someone that brings guns and ammo and is willing to help
