Oil in cooling system - heater core

long story short, truck is getting a new motor. Before she went, it filled the cooling system with oil. LOTS of oil. Draining the motor and radiator, I ended up with a couple quarts. Now my question is. I'm putting in a fresh motor, all new hoses everywhere, and having the radiator professionally cleaned, to remove oil. This leaves me to the heater core. Is there any way to effectively remove all the oil from it? Or do I just remove and replace... Not a job I want to tackle, but I want to hear opinions on if I'd be able to flush it all and effectively remove all the oil. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I'd just replace it. They are easy to do on these trucks, not like some.

I'd probably just replace it, or take it out and clean it. It isn't hard to get to. You spend all this money on a new motor, hoses and professional cleaning of radiator and cheap out on a $50-$100 part? Doesn't make sense to me.
If I was going to leave it in place I'd flush with Dawn dish detergent. I'd leave the inlet hooked up and the outlet to a bucket.

This is my thinking also. I just didn't know if there was a way to flush it and get it clean enough. I agree, I'm not gonna cut corners here. Just looking for input. I tried flushing the system before, with simple green and water. But there was so much oil in the system that it wasn't doing much. Any info or a link on an R&R on the core on these?

Just replace it, easy to do behind the glove box.
Rock Auto has them for $20, Advance has them for $25.

I hope you are putting a new oil cooler on with new o-rings since that was most likely the source of your oil intrusion

What are we missing ?
Are you changing the engine because of the oil/water mix ?
Or are you changing it because you drove it that till it took out the bearing?

I can't see buying a new engine overs bad oil cooler ?

Do please feel us in it just might save you thousands.
