A year plus with the Mishimoto

Ambient temp outside is 60*F today. I actually was able to get up to temp without my winter front on the truck. Even with a new 192*F Tstat from the International dealer and my Fia winter front on at 60*F ambient temp, 185*F was my normal operating temp. Got off the freeway and temps dropped to ECT 201, EOT 206 on the surface streets and at stop lights. This would normally give me 170's on my ECT with my new IH Tstat.

Truck sure seems to like the extra 20* of heat, not as sluggish anymore. Put the peddle down, and hold on! Now I'm concerned that towing is going to create too much heat. Guess we'll see.
Still running the 200* T-stat, and temps have settled in at 198-203. Ran to SoCal a couple of times in the last year, and a winter trip to Bozeman, MT and temps are pretty steady. Towed the 31 ft Airstream on a short trip (200 miles or so) once in the last year, too, and temps stayed consistent in the 200-207 range as well. Temps while towing did tend to creep up to the 210 range on hills and such, but the fan was able manage the heat and keep everything happy. All in all, I dig it. It was especially nice this last winter in Montana, keeping the truck up to temp in the bitter cold. I still run my winter front, but might not actually be necessary.

Have had mine in for about 1500 miles. Temps seem to stay right around 204° - 206° oil temp stays around 210°. Truck runs great! I haven't noticed any tremendous difference, and I'm into the right peddle alittle to much to see any changes in MPG

I've had my Mishi in for a while now and all is well ...200/202 ect 206/208 eot. Tow my 34' tt on a 200 mile trip this past weekend ambient was in the mid to high 80s the humidity nearly the same rolling hills with a couple of long pulls. The ect temp never exceeded 207 and the eot never exceeded 218 and mostly stayed in the 204 ect 214 eot range .......very pleased with the higher tstat all around.

I guess I should add that my ambient temps have been 95° or higher almost every single day here in South Carolina for the past month and a half. I'll be curious to see what it does in the winter.

Are you running a factory radiator and water pump Mcrafty1?

Running at a year now, 200-203 in heat of summer or cold, tow at 207 and oil was at 215 or less.

Hits 200 in winter and really, ambient temperature shouldn't matter.

Yeah that's too hot for my blood, mid 80s here for a few days mid summer.... everything else is south of that, prolly why my truck is still all mostly stock and on Ford gold after 132,000 plus.

looks like my "high maintenance girlfriend" needs some attention again, my Mishimoto T-stat is running cold. Temps have gotten into the 50's here, and my 200* T-stat it now a 165*. Really too bad, I had hoped it would last longer. Looked at the warranty info, and I lost the receipt and the shipping back and forth is more than the part. Guess I'll have to hop on the Amazon and order another, since the stock T-stat is even worse. I have 3 new stock T-stats that all run at 185, unless you are stopped, then it's closer to 150.

Why do we want our 6.0s to run hotter?

I just installed a Motorcraft thinking OEM was best, then stumbled onto this thread. It seems to be the consensus that this is the right mod.

I believe the biggest concern is when you run below 185 the truck is in "cold" mode and injects more fuel in an attempt to warm the truck up faster.

The coolant temp (hundreds of degrees) is also a representation of the engine temp (few thousand) so a change of 10-20 degrees will increase engine temp a lot more than 10-20 and they operate better this way with more power and better MPG. The down side being more heat generates more NOx in the exhaust (bad for the EPA). I'm 80% sure about what I just said in this paragraph.

I was about to buy one because my temps are always around 190-195. however since My wreck and replacing my bumper with a full replacement my temps never fall below 198 on the highway usually around 203-208 right now.
